1. Be respectful to others. Any posts that are directly or indirectly attacking other users or contain discriminatory or offensive content will be removed and reported.
2. No spamming. Anything considered spam will be deleted. Spamming includes:
Comments/conversations unrelated to the comic.
Any comments containing images that stretch the site layout.
Links to other sites, comics, etc. Especially in the form of self-promotion.
Typo Corrections. While I appreciate the intent of these, more often than not they are spammy when 5 people comment only to post out typos. By the time you see the page it has already been uploaded to several sites. I'm unlikely to fix the typo unless it is major.
Asking about when the next update will be. Check the news and progress bar for information on that.
3. No spoilers. Predictions are fine- and encouraged- but no going back to older pages and posting about future events for people who are reading through for the first time to see.
It's hard to say. The time spent per page can vary pretty wildly. I'd say normal pages take anywhere from 4-6 hours NOT counting scripting and layouts (which I do for the whole chapter before focusing on individual pages). Some pages can take up to 10-15 hours of work from sketch to finish though. So I guess maybe 160-200 hours of work as a super rough estimate.
200 hours of work- not passing time. I only post one page at a time. Usually if we’re talking about non consistent time it’s 200 hrs of work spread across ~6 months. Assuming I don’t have to go on hiatus for whatever reasons.
I'm excited!! And I love the improvement within your art along the way! If you don't mind me asking, what programs do you use? I'm thinking about dabbling into digital myself.
Thank you! It's really been a journey over the years with the art improvement!
I use Photoshop CC for making the comic. It's not the most common software for people making comics these days- I'm just set in my ways with it at this point. If you're looking into digital art stuff I'd recommend looking into any of the following:
- Photoshop
- ClupStudio Paint (Goes on sale often and is well loved)
- PaintTool Sai (I think this one is dropping in popularity these days?)
- Krita (Free)
- Fire Alpaca (Free)
- Medibang Paint Pro (Free)
You'll get pros/cons with each but they're all usable programs with varying features. Find what works for ya- the software doesn't make the artist!
